Aarupadai Veedu – 6 Homes of Lord Muruga (Karthikeya)

 

The Six Abodes of Murugan (Tamil: Aarupadai Veedu) are six sanctuaries is placed in the territory of Tamil Nadu in South India. The god is referred to by various names, for example, Karthikeya, kanda, Vadivela and Muruga at different sanctuaries.

The six most famous temples of Murugan was referenced in Tamil Sangam writing, “Thirumurugatrupadai”, written by Nakkeerar, and in “Thiruppugazh”, written by Arunagirinathar. The six homes are Thiruthani, Swamimalai, Palani, Pazhamudircholai, Thirupparankunram, and Thiruchendur.

1. Tiruparangundram

 

Tiruparangundram, the primary Arupadai Veedu, is found 5 miles Southwest of Madurai. Since Lord Muruga married his first spouse Devasena at this spot, Hindus consider this Muruga sanctuary favorable for relationships. The Muruga sanctuary was developed by Viswakarma, the awesome stone carver. The specialty of the temple is its 48 columns and the way that the deepest altar is cut from a solitary stone. Panguni Uttram which falls in late March is commended as a celebration of marriage in this residence of Arupadai Veedu.

2. Tiruchendur

Tiruchendur is the second Aarupadai Veedu where Lord Muruga stayed outdoors to obliterate the malicious power of Surapadma. Lord Muruga was born to be conceived for the sole motivation behind overcoming Surapadma and this is celebrated as Skanda Sashti, which falls six days after Diwali.

Tiruchendur Muruga Temple is the only one beach location of Lord Muruga.

3. Palani

Palani is the third place of Arupadai Veedu of Lord Muruga and is found 100 kilometers South of Coimbatore and similarly separated from Madurai. This is the spot that Muruga left for after a fight with his parents, Lord Shiva and Parvati over an awesome natural product that was offered to his sibling Ganapati after opposition of circumventing the world.

Muruga is named as Dandayudapani at Palani where Thai Poosam in January is exceptionally well known in the Palani Muruga Temple. During these celebrations, pakthars convey Kavadi and do abishekam. The Muruga Temple has rope vehicle and winch offices, basically for senior citizens and the disabled, but also used by others.

4. Swami Malai

Swami Malai is the fourth house among the Arupadai Veedu and is situated close to Kumbakonam, on the banks of waterway Cauvery. Muruga shows the importance of the grandiose word “AUM” to his dad ruler Shiva, in this homestead. Shiva sits acted like a figure with worship to his son in Swami Malai. The Muruga sanctuary has 60 stages each named after one of the 60 Tamil years. Vaikasi Visakam celebration which is held in May and Thai Poosam in January are well-known celebrations of this homestead.

5. Thiruthani

Thiruthani is the fifth place where Lord Muruga arrived to quiet himself after the war and victory over Sura Padma for which he was conceived. Thiruthani is found 84 kilometers Northwest of Chennai. The Muruga sanctuary has 356 stages, each notifies to a day in the year. Adi Kiruthigai Tank celebration and Skanda Shashti are famous celebrations seen in this temple. Spreading Sandal on the Idol of Lord Muruga is unique in this residence.

6. Pazhamudir Cholai

Pazhamudir Cholai is found 13 kilometers North of Madurai. This is a thick slope of woods loaded up with springs, spices, leafy foods where his second wife Valli lived. The Tamil writer Avvaiyar was tested by Lord Muruga in this spot. It is the 6th and last among the Arupadai Veedu of Lord Muruga. Pankuni Uttiram in March, Visakam during May, Shasti during October, and Kartigai during November are the well-known celebrations saw in this Muruga Temple.
